The Bridge, a 15-unit affordable rental housing project, will be built on land owned by the City of Beaverton and leased to Tualatin Valley Housing Partners under a 99-year lease agreement.  The Bridge will serve extremely low-income special needs households  who meet the additional eligibility criteria of also being a high-functioning developmentally disabled adult able to live independently.  The Bridge project will be composed of 14 one-bedroom units, a two-bedroom manager’s unit and a small community room for social activities centered around a community courtyard.  All of the nine ground floor units will be accessible and/or adaptable to individuals with physical disabilities.   The grading is designed to provide full accessibility throughout the site –from the top of the slope at SW Allen Blvd. to the parking area. Perimeter landscaping will be used to screen and enhance the buildings and parking areas at the street level.  Interior landscaping will emphasize openness and livability with a courtyard path and sitting areas.

Design goals for the project include:

Creating a sense of community and place

Creating a sense of security and safety for residents

Maximizing the number of accessible units on the site

Compatibility with the surrounding neighborhood
