Camas Commons is a 56-unit affordable housing development designed for large families, seniors and persons with disabilities who earn between 40% and 60% of median income.  The 5-acre site, located near the edge of the Urban Growth Boundary in southwest Corvallis, is ideally situated for medium density housing.  Zoned RS-9, it allows up to 12 units per acre.  The location provides exceptional access to public transportation; is within short walking distance to a thriving neighborhood commercial center; and is bordered by a multi-modal path for pedestrians and bicycles.  Site design goals include providing increased density while maintaining the scale and atmosphere of the adjacent single-family neighborhood, creating a clear system of circulation for autos, pedestrians and bicyclists throughout the neighborhood, and maximizing open space for children of all ages to play.  Unit design features include simple massing and standard materials for affordability, variety in floor plans and features, high energy efficiency, sustainable products and practices and visitability to all unit entries.
