Colonia Libertad is a medium-density complex for farm workers and their families located near I-5 on the southeast edge of Salem. Located at a busy intersection in a rapidly developing area, it is designed to present a pedestrian-friendly façade to the street while creating a calmer, more private interior courtyard environment for the residents. Unit sizes range from one to four bedrooms with a predominance of two and three bedroom units. Both townhouse and single-story units provide a variety of unit types for the project. The units are grouped into longer two and three story buildings that front either community courtyards or parking courts. A large community center (4000 sf) located at the center of the project provides program and administrative space for the many activities and services that will be provided to the residents. Indoor community spaces include a multi-purpose room, computer classroom and a youth services room. Outdoors spaces include a basketball court for teens, two play structures for younger children, a community plaza and shared garden space.
