Spruce Terrace provides 34 units of affordable housing for families and persons with developmental disabilities. Duplex townhouses and stacked flats are designed to fit in with the scale of the adjacent single-family neighborhood homes. Parking spaces are clustered into three smaller areas to diminish their impact to the neighborhood and to maximize open space within the complex. Open space amenities include a tot lot, community gardens, a basketball half-court and a hardscaped play area which does double duty as an emergency access through the site. A central community building provides shared laundry facilities, a meeting room with kitchen, a fully equipped computer room with DSL web access and offices.
The units are a combination of townhouses and stacked flats, providing 6 fully accessible units for the project. All townhouses have no-step entrances to provide “visitability.” Energy efficient features include super good cents insulation levels and electronic thermostats.
